Colombia Digital Nomad Visa (Visa V): Requirements

What you need to qualify for the Colombia Digital Nomad Visa (Visa V) — income, documents, and the fine print that trips people up.

Verified Aug 2026 · Colombia's Cancillería V-visa income figures and current SMMLV-based thresholds

Colombia introduced a dedicated Digital Nomad Visa in 2022, part of a broader V-category visa system. It's one of the more straightforward programs on this list — built specifically for remote workers rather than repurposed from an older visa category.

You'll need to show remote employment or a freelance/business relationship with companies outside Colombia, plus proof of income above a set threshold. As of 2026, that's 3x Colombia's minimum wage (SMMLV) — roughly $1,100-1,400 USD/month, with the exact dollar figure shifting based on the exchange rate applied when your file is reviewed. Each individual month needs to clear the bar on its own; averaging a strong month against a weak one isn't accepted.

Unlike Portugal or Spain, Colombia's program doesn't require a university degree or minimum years of professional experience — the qualification is built almost entirely around the income and remote-work proof.
