Greece Digital Nomad Visa: Requirements
What you need to qualify for the Greece Digital Nomad Visa — income, documents, and the fine print that trips people up.
Greece introduced its Digital Nomad Visa in 2021, paired with a notable personal income tax incentive for people who become Greek tax residents while on it — a genuinely different structure from most EU nomad programs.
Standard requirements apply: proof of remote employment or freelance income above a published threshold, plus the usual accommodation, insurance, and clean-record documentation. As of a 2025 increase, that threshold is €3,500/month gross (raised from €2,500), with 20% added for a spouse and 15% per dependent child. A real, important procedural change under Law 5275/2026: as of February 2026, in-country applications are no longer accepted at all — you must now apply at a Greek consulate before traveling, closing the "arrive on tourist status, apply once there" route some older content describes.
Greece's visa is one of the few on this list explicitly designed to encourage nomads to become tax residents, rather than structured to keep them outside the local tax system — worth understanding before you assume it works like Croatia's or Malta's approach.
