Barbados Welcome Stamp: Tax Implications
How the Barbados Welcome Stamp affects your tax residency, and what to confirm before you commit to a long stay.
A defining feature, confirmed directly by statute: under Section 4 of Barbados's Remote Employment Act, 2020, Welcome Stamp holders are explicitly deemed non-tax-residents of Barbados. That means zero Barbados income tax and zero National Insurance Scheme contributions on your foreign-sourced remote income, for the full visa period and any renewals — genuinely written into law, not just informal practice. Holders can still request a local Tax Identification Number through the Barbados Revenue Authority if a foreign bank requires one for compliance purposes, despite being exempt from local tax.
