Spain Digital Nomad Visa: Application Process

Step by step through the Spain Digital Nomad Visa application, from first document to approval.

  1. Confirm eligibility on the remote-work and income requirements before gathering documents — this visa has stricter qualification criteria than some alternatives.
  2. Apply either from your home country at a Spanish consulate, or from within Spain if you're already there on another visa status.
  3. Applying from within Spain is often faster and is a route some nomads use deliberately — expect roughly 20 working days through Spain's Unidad de Grandes Empresas (UGE) if you're already there, versus a wider 15-45 day range through a consulate abroad.
  4. Once approved, register locally (empadronamiento) and apply for your foreigner ID card (TIE).
