Croatia Digital Nomad Residence Permit: Requirements

What you need to qualify for the Croatia Digital Nomad Residence Permit — income, documents, and the fine print that trips people up.

Verified Aug 2026 · Croatian Ministry of the Interior (MUP) and the March 2026 Official Gazette income update

Croatia's Digital Nomad Residence Permit, introduced in 2021, is one of the more established dedicated nomad programs in Europe — administered through the Ministry of the Interior (MUP) with a clearer public process than several newer programs on this list.

You need to show remote employment or ownership of a business registered outside Croatia, plus income above a published threshold. As of a March 2026 update, that's €3,622.50/month (2.5x Croatia's 2025 average net salary), a real jump from roughly €2,870-3,295 previously — if you've seen an older, lower figure quoted elsewhere, it's out of date.

Notably, this is a residence permit rather than a visa in the strict sense — the application and terminology differ slightly from the D7/D8-style programs, which matters mainly for how you research and apply.
